It’s no secret that SassyBlack is a force to be reckoned with – as a seasoned vocalist, songwriter, and producer, she shines from start to finish on her latest release. The warmth in her voice arrives just in time to keep away the dropping temperatures of fall, and her lyrics are empowering, energizing, and comforting. Musically, ‘Ancient Mahogany Gold’ feels like stepping into the 3-dimensional narrative of SassyBlack, each beat carefully constructed to take you further and further into her story.

You know what’s funny about all this, don’t you? It doesn’t matter what you think of me. It doesn’t matter at all.” -SassyBlack, from the song ‘Recommendations’

The stand out tracks on the record are ‘Antidote’, an ode to self-love and healing, ‘Fluidity’, one of the more light-hearted and bouncier tracks, and ‘Sweet Vibes’, a song about waiting for the good to come while you’re down. In addition to the stand-outs, ‘Ancient Mahogany Gold’ features a long list of heartfelt songs with celestial melodies and deeply emotional lyrics that cover topics such as ambition, empowerment, depression, and relationships.

Galactic and uplifting, ‘Ancient Mahogany Gold’ is a record with something unique and powerful to offer. SassyBlack is an artist for the ages, and she’s continuing to leave her mark on the Pacific Northwest with this album.
